So what is Volomoto all about, who is behind it and why am I reading this? Well, hopefully, I will be able to answer those questions and more. Firstly, Volomoto is aiming to become the definitive one-stop-shop for all your electric vehicle requirements: whether that be the vehicle itself, safety wear, insurance, finance, electricity or servicing.
It is our mission to provide all varieties of sustainable transport and everything you need to use them.
Customer service, product support, professionalism, honesty, ethics and integrity are our highest priority.
Let's start with some honesty, you will find that we are not the cheapest, and there is a very good reason for that. In order to offer you the best possible service, impartial and accurate advice, and truly great products we have to charge a little bit more. We will spend the time to help you find the right solution for your needs, and if we think you are about to make a bad decision we will tell you, and explain why. It's our job to know about electric vehicles, we're passionate about them, but like all things in life there are situations where they're not the right choice, admittedly those are becoming fewer and that's why we are here.
Volomoto is a business unit of D. Grant Crawley Limited, and is the brainchild of Grant Crawley. D. Grant Crawley Limited has been in business since 1992, which makes us one of the oldest companies in the electric vehicle sector. Volomoto has come about because there is a gaping hole in the supply chain of electric vehicles outside of the London area, and it becomes more and more obvious the further north you go. We want to fill that hole, we've looked at what our competitors are doing, and we think we can do it much better.
We opened the doors on our online store on 1st November 2008, and you can buy our full range of products online from that site. You are welcome to look now, and our product range is growing every day. Initially we will provide a test-drive, delivery and servicing pickup service to the area shown on our service area map. As you can see, we are located centrally in that area, and within walking distance of both the Burscough train stations should you want to drop-in for a test drive or pick up a new vehicle and ride it home.
We have a very interesting future ahead of us, we plan to produce our own human-electric hybrid vehicle in 2011. An ultra-lightweight carbon-fibre and aluminium monocoque chassis, with a fully enclosed aerodynamic single seat driver capsule, pedal and wheel motor propulsion. The prototype will be initially run on standard deep-cycle marine batteries, and we estimate a maximum speed in the region of 70mph. We are aiming for a strong combination of speed and range by keeping weight, wind resistance and rolling resistance all as low as possible.
